Preface

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension is considered one of the essential departments of the Faculty of Agriculture. The fundamental objective of establishing this department is to provide a platform for professional theoretical and practical education for students of Agricultural Economics and Extension to assist the farming and livestock community and the country's private sector in identifying and solving the problems of the agricultural sector and better management of production resources to enhance productivity, food security, and improve the living standards of the farming community, and sustainable growth of the national economy.

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension was established in 2013 within the framework of the Faculty of Agriculture of Farah University. The purpose of establishing this department is to educate and train specialized personnel to improve the agricultural situation in the country. By 2024, this department has graduated 371 specialists and experts and presented them to society, and currently, 95 students are studying in this department. The academic staff of this department consists of 6 professors with bachelor's and master's degrees.

Vision

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension of the Faculty of Agriculture of Farah University, through its scientific and research activities, intends to train specialized and professional personnel in the agricultural sector to meet the needs of the agricultural sector and to serve as one of the leading departments in the field of agricultural economics and extension, providing educational services to the people of this country.

Mission

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension strives to train experts and specialists based on market and community needs at the bachelor's level in the field of agriculture in light of fundamental, professional, and ethical standards by enhancing the professional skills of students, providing the opportunity to acquire scientific and practical knowledge for the students of this field so that they can work towards the progress, economic self-sufficiency, and food security of their beloved country with the help of their knowledge, initiatives, and research.

To train technical and professional experts in the field of agricultural extension and economics;
To provide a learning environment for students in the field of agricultural Extension and economics;
To educate students in leadership, management, and decision-making;
To improve the status of regional extension systems by supplying specialists in agricultural extension and economics;
To introduce appropriate advisory methods regarding the economic analysis of agricultural activities;
To provide the community with specialists and professionals in the field of agriculture.
