Department of Agronomy
History
The Department of Agronomy was established in 2013 within the Faculty of Agriculture at Farah University. The aim of establishing this department is to educate and train specialized personnel to improve the agricultural situation in the country.
The mission of this department is aligned with the goals and objectives of the Faculty of Agriculture at Farah University. This department has always strived to provide high-quality, standard educational services to students and to teach them up-to-date knowledge and skills needed in the job market through professional and specialized instructors. A significant number of graduates from this department have been employed after graduation or are pursuing higher education beyond their bachelor's degree. This department has so far graduated 294 professional personnel, both male and female, who have contributed to society. Currently, 52 students are enrolled in this department. The department has 7 faculty members with master's and bachelor's degrees, and one faculty member is pursuing a doctoral degree in Turkey.

The Department of Agronomy is determined to be a nationally and regionally recognized institution by providing standard teaching, research, training of specialized and knowledgeable personnel, and other services related to the field of agronomy.
Mission
The Department of Agronomy is committed to providing standard scientific, research, and academic services for capacity building and training of scientific personnel through teaching, research, and providing professional services for the development of a significant part of the agricultural sector at the national and regional levels.
- Establishing communication, cooperation, and information exchange with all domestic and foreign scientific institutions;
- Research in the field of agricultural production;
- Dissemination of scientific research results to farmers;
- Providing research and internship opportunities for students;
- Utilizing global perspectives to address local and regional agricultural issues.

Goals and Objectives
- Training specialists and experts in the field of agricultural production;
- Strengthening agricultural institutions based on scientific and professional knowledge;
- Acquiring professional knowledge and necessary skills to enhance the production capacities of crops and their economic value;
- Conducting research projects to improve, reform, and enhance crop production;
- Addressing food shortages, which are current problems in most countries of the world, including Afghanistan;
- Utilizing modern agricultural technologies to transform traditional agriculture into modern agriculture;
- Strengthening sustainable agriculture systems to combat hunger through equitable food distribution and improving food security.
