Vision

The Dari Language and Literature Department endeavors to establish a high-quality academic education system in the Western zone and aims to become a leading department to actively contribute by attracting and training young cadres in the next five years. 

Mission

The department is committed to supporting the country's youth through the provision of educational, training, professional, and research services. Through teaching and research, it aims to equip its graduates to compete successfully at the regional level in the Western Zone of the country.

 

Values

The Department of Dari is one of the operational programs of the Faculty of Education, which works toward providing standard education, developing teaching skills, writing, reading texts, text analysis, and oratory. The values of the department include the following:

     •         Preservation and teaching of written and oral cultural heritage;

     •         Preservation of Islamic values and human dignity;

     •         Respect for national and local values;

     •         Commitment to integrity and confidentiality;

     •         Adherence to honesty and mutual cooperation;

     •         Observance of research ethics.

 

 

Scope of Work

Due to their deep knowledge of classical and contemporary poetic and prose literary texts, graduates of this department can work in various fields. The most important areas of employment are listed below:

  • Teaching and Education
    • Teaching in schools, high schools, educational institutes, and universities;
    • Cooperation with courses, literacy centers, and private educational centers as instructors.
  • Scientific Research
    • Working in public and private universities and higher education institutions;
    • Conducting library-based and field research.
  • Government Offices and National Institutions
    • Working as scientific and cultural advisors in government offices;
    • Working in state and private audio-visual media and in the Information and Culture sector.

Employment Opportunities for Graduates

     1.       Recruitment of graduates of the Department of Dari Language and Literature as professional teachers in all high schools of the Ministry of Education of Afghanistan.

     2.       Recruitment of graduates in the central and provincial Directorates of Information and Culture as professional members in the field of Dari.

     3.       Recruitment of graduates in teacher-training institutions in the center and provinces as lecturers of Dari literature.

     4.       Recruitment of graduates in all Faculties of Education in the field of Dari literature as members of the academic staff.

Definition of a Graduate

The Dari program considers a person as a bachelor’s degree graduate who has completed 145 credits over a four-year academic period in the day program and who meets the following conditions in terms of knowledge, skills, and conduct:

Knowledge

A graduate of the Dari field is someone who, after completing four academic years, has:

     •         Familiarity with all periods of Persian (Dari) literature;

     •         Knowledge of most poets of this language;

     •         Proper understanding of writing conventions of different literary periods;

     •         Understanding of the styles of various Dari literary works;

     •         Knowledge of lexical, intellectual, and grammatical characteristics of each period;

     •         Familiarity with branches of grammar;

     •         Proper understanding of the value and significance of literary works.

Skills

A graduate of the Dari field is someone who has:

     •         Adequate ability to teach the Dari language;

     •         Ability to analyze and interpret literary texts;

     •         Ability to effectively manage and conduct workshops;

     •         Familiarity with at least one foreign language.

Conduct

A graduate of the Dari Language and Literature program is someone whose engagement with Dari literary works:

     •         Strengthens social ethics, national pride, and the spirit of freedom and bravery;

     •         Respects Islamic, religious, and sectarian values;

     •         Develops as an individual free from hatred and prejudice;

     •         Acts as a cultural and enlightened individual in society;

     •         Is free from all forms of antisocial behavior.
